Why print with OnPress?
Just books — nothing but books — seriously
Online book printers who keep your reputation safe
When your reputation depends on the quality of your printed books, you can count on OnPress every time. We're different from other online book printers because books are our passion, and it's all we do. We outfitted our print shop with the specialized equipment needed for top-quality books, then hired and extensively trained the staff we needed to guarantee your satisfaction. That laser-like focus allows us to deliver impeccable custom print books faster and more affordably than anyone else.
You deserve the highest-quality books
We only use the latest printing technology from leaders in the industry: HP and Xeikon. Our state-of-the-art machines are G7®-certified (and so are our operators), which proves our demonstrated expertise in color management, process, and quality. We're able to maintain consistent color between machines and over time, which ensures bookstore-quality books with every batch. Other book printing companies may use inkjet printing which reduces quality, but you won't find that at OnPress. Our dry toner-based machines deliver superior results every time.
Low prices aren't a dream — they're a reality
How can we guarantee the highest quality and lowest prices? It's because we print our own books. Believe it or not, many book printers outsource their books to the lowest bidder — and we wouldn't dare to do that. At OnPress, our ultra-efficient, roll-fed printing presses run 24 hours a day, which improves productivity compared to the less-efficient, sheet-fed presses our competitors operate. This helps keep your costs low, all while maintaining speedy production times.
Lightning-fast printing keeps you right on time
We know deadlines are important, and none are more important than yours. Since we print books in our state-of-the-art facility outside Philadelphia, most books can be ready in just 2-5 days (large quantities can take a few days longer).

Frequently asked questions:
What is the best printing method for books?
There is no "one size fits all" method for printing books. The answer depends on the run size and your specific needs. For short runs or fast, customizable jobs, we recommend digital printing with our Xeikon, toner-based G7 printing options. For larger runs of 500 copies or more, offset printing can be the more economical option, especially if you need the highest possible quality for very large runs.
How much does it cost to have a book printed?
The cost to have a book printed varies by trim size, page count, interior paper, cover style and finish, binding, and quality. Fortunately, our free online price quote tool can give you an instant quote based on your specs.
Can I order a single copy (a hard copy proof) or is there a minimum quantity?
Yes, we can print single copies using our digital, roll-fed Xeikon printers, so you can order one book as a proof or a very short run.
Is offset printing more expensive than digital printing?
Offset printing has higher setup costs and a longer production time, so it's generally more expensive for small runs, but becomes cheaper per unit on large runs (of 500 or more copies). After that, offset becomes more economical.
What are the disadvantages of offset printing?
Compared to digital printing, offset printing requires a longer setup and production time. There's also less flexibility for customization and higher upfront costs, which makes digital printing a better option for short runs, fast turnarounds, or highly customized orders.
What does G7 certified mean?
G7 is a type of color management standard that makes sure you get consistent, predictable color across all machines and runs. Our G7-certified presses and operators guarantee color consistency in your books, which is a must for graphic novels, photography books, and other full-color books.
How quickly can I get a book printed?
Many single-copy and small orders can be ready in 2-5 business days. Specific turnaround times depend on quantity and book type (for example, a paperback novel takes less time to print than a photo book). For exact timing, fill in our price quoter with your exact specifications.
Which type of binding is best for books?
The "best" binding depends on your genre, page count, and the type of durability you'd like your book to have. Perfect binding is the ideal choice for many paperbacks. Choose Smyth-sewn when you need lasting durability and lay-flat performance like for workbooks or textbooks. Decide on your book binding based on page count and how the book will be used.
What is the standard trim size for books?
There is no single standard trim size, however we offer many popular sizes, including: Digest 5.5" x 5.8" and 6" x 9" (business/novel sizes), 5" x 8" (novella), A5 comic/graphic novel sizes like 6.625" x 10.25", and larger formats like 8" x 10" or 8.5" x 11". We provide templates for each size.
What is the minimum page count for a printed book?
The minimum page count depends on the binding style. We generally require at least 24 pages for perfect binding / adhesive case for hardcovers. Keep in mind we can print a single copy as an order quantity, but the type of binding is what sets the minimum page count.
